Allsup Provides Disability Screenings at GCS Ballpark, May 7

National Alliance on Mental Illness kicks off Mental Health Month with “Race for Recovery”5K run and mental health fair

Belleville, Ill.—April 29, 2016—Allsup, the nation’s premier Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation company, will provide SSDI and veterans disability benefits screenings at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Illinois, at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southwestern Illinois’ Race for Recovery, Saturday, May 7.

The family-oriented event will feature mental health information and interactive activities for adults and children. In addition to the 5K Race for Recovery, individuals can register for a one-mile Walk for Awareness.

According to NAMI, each year, approximately 1 in 25 adults in the U.S. experiences a serious mental illness that substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities. That often makes it impossible for to continue working. Mental illnesses are among the most common diagnoses in SSDI applications. While most individuals who have experienced or live with mental illness are able to work full-time, SSDI is an important resource for those who can’t work for 12 months or more.

SSDI benefits include a regular monthly income, based on how much has been paid into the system, Medicare eligibility and re-employment assistance. The first step in the SSDI application process is to determine eligibility.

Allsup team members will be available on-site to answer questions and help individuals determine if they may be eligible for SSDI benefits or veterans disability appeals.

Help also is available online at Expert.Allsup.com or by calling (888) 841-2126.
