1. Is this health insurance?
OptumHealthSM Allies is not insurance. It is a health discount program that offers savings on a wide range of healthcare services. With OptumHealth Allies, you pay reduced rates for many out-of-pocket healthcare services you would otherwise purchase at full price.
2. How does this program save me money?
OptumHealth Allies gives access to providers and services at preferred rates. You can save typically 10 to 50 percent on services that you would otherwise have to pay full price for.
3. Who can use the health care discount program?
You, your spouse and your dependents – even those living away at school.
4. What forms of payment are available?
At this time, the only form of payment accepted is a Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit card. More payment options may be available in the future.
5. How do I check to see if my physician or provider is part of the network that will provide me with the discount?
An easy provider look-up is available online here or via phone.
6. Can I use this program if I already have health insurance?
Yes, you can. This program complements any health benefits you already have by helping you save on many non-covered products and services. For example, the program provides discounts in a wide range of areas including alternative care (acupuncture, chiropractor visits, massage therapy), wellness (weight loss, fitness club memberships) and health supplies (vitamins and supplements, medical supplies and equipment).
7. What if I decide I want to cancel my participation in the program?
You may cancel at any time. If you cancel within 30 days of enrollment (within 30 days of receipt of membership materials for residents of CO, IN, MO, MT, ND, OH, OK, SC and SD), you will receive a full refund. If you cancel on or after 31 days, no refund will be provided. However, your membership will continue through the end of the month for which you have paid.
