Allsup Provides Social Security Disability Insurance Screenings at Kansas City Lupus Walk, Saturday, Sept. 12 at Shawnee Mission Park

Missouri ranks 14th among states with the most backlogged pending SSDI claims

Belleville, Ill.—Sept. 3, 2015—Allsup, a nationwide provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation, will provide information and eligibility screenings at the Lupus Foundation of America Heartland Chapter’s Kansas City Walk to End Lupus Now. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Shawnee Mission Park.

Nationwide, almost 1.5 million people experience significant tissue damage, organ failure, disability and death due to lupus, according to the Lupus Foundation of America. There are approximately 50,000 living with lupus in Missouri, eastern Kansas and southern Illinois.

Many individuals with lupus are unable to continue working just a few years after diagnosis, but they may be eligible for the SSDI benefits they paid for during their working years.

SSDI is an important resource for individuals with lupus. However, more than two-thirds of initial SSDI applications are denied. Appeals can take several months or years.

With 25,904 pending claims, Missouri is ranked 14th among the states with the highest number of backlogged SSDI claims in 2015. See Allsup's state-by-state disability backlog ranking here.

Having expert SSDI representation can help individuals with lupus get approved sooner at the initial and appeal levels. For more information on lupus and SSDI eligibility, call the Allsup Disability Evaluation Center at (888) 841-2126.
