TCOYD Offers Free Virtual Events for Those with Diabetes
By Lynne Scharf, Content Coordinator of Taking Control of Your Diabetes
Despite the challenges happening everywhere due to the pandemic, there have also been silver linings.
For Taking Control of Your Diabetes (TCOYD), one of the unexpected benefits has been the ability to transition all of our educational diabetes conferences from in-person events to virtual discussions.
In the last six months, TCOYD has been able to reach people in every U.S. state and in over 50 countries with our online workshops. It’s great to learn that virtual events can have almost every element of an in-person conference, including:
- Individual Q&A’s with diabetes experts
- Exhibit booths
- Cooking demos
- Exercise classes
- Networking opportunities
One of the most important perks of TCOYD’s online patient conferences is that they are COMPLETELY FREE for anyone living with diabetes, as well as their loved ones.
Although nothing can replace being in the same room with 500 people who understand what it’s like to have to do math every time you eat, virtual events are the next best thing to bring diabetes patients together.
Our “conference rooms” are just a little bigger this way, and you may find yourself talking about the best low-carb pasta with someone from Latvia, the Bahamas or Finland.
TCOYD’s vision has always been for all people with diabetes to have full access to proper education and therapy in order to allow for the prevention, early detection, and aggressive management of diabetes and the complications of diabetes, and now we’re one step closer to realizing this vision.
Take advantage of learning in your living room with one of TCOYD’s upcoming conferences:
Nov. 7, 2020 – Across the Globe Conference
Dec. 12, 2020 – Home for the Holidays Conference
There’ll be more to come in 2021, and lots of videos remain on TCOYD’s website, so you can binge-watch them anytime. For more information, please visit tcoyd.org.
