When Should You Apply For SS Disability?
If you are out of work due to a chronic illness or serious injury, you could qualify for Social Security disability benefits. It is important to apply as soon as you have a disability or know you’ll be out of work for a year, because it can take months and months for the Social Security Administration (SSA) to make a decision on your claim.
Don’t worry, once Allsup gets benefits for you, you will receive payments from the SSA dating back to when you first applied for Social Security disability benefits. This money is called back pay or retroactive benefits.
Allsup customers see an average retroactive benefits payment of $27,143.
How Do You Claim SSDI?
To get Social Security Disability Insurance benefits, you must apply to the SSA. Your initial application and the information you provide must be detailed – this is critical to getting SS disability benefits early.
You can complete the Social Security disability application on your own, or have a disability representative like Allsup fill it out for you.
The SSA will review your application to determine whether you qualify for monthly Social Security benefit payments. This sounds simple, but you must have medical evidence and documentation to prove you meet the legal definition of disabled. And, you must carefully complete the forms because it’s possible to make mistakes that could lead to denial.
Let Allsup help you get the Social Security disability benefits you deserve early in the SSDI process. Allsup helps more people get approved at the application level than any other SSDI representative nationwide.
